Today is my last day off before I leave for Kazakhstan. I spent the morning preparing the final touches to our visa applications. They are now in the capable hands of Fedex! Yes, my friends, it is time for incessant Fedex stalking again. Luckily, the Fedex worker now knows me very well and doesn't really think twice when I wave like a mad woman when i run into her several times a day.
It's really hitting me that in just a few days I will meet my daughter. I have been randomly bursting into happy tears, getting all choked up, and noticing my heart beating out of my chest several times a day. It also hit me that this will be such an adventure. I haven't been to a former Soviet country in about 15 years, so my trip to the hardware store to buy rolled up screen for the windows and duct tape to tape it there was pretty amusing. Mom, on the other hand, may not find this equally as amusing, although I have to say, she is being a trooper already! I am glad we have had over a year to discuss what to expect. In a way, I have painted the picture of a horror story, mostly because she will just be pleasantly surprised.
All that matters is there is one glorious little princess at the end of the rainbow in Kazakhstan. I can't wait to show you pictures of my little pot of gold.

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
