The Eagle Has Landed in Storkistan!

We arrived safely and non-eventfully to Almaty. We cleared passport control etc with no problem. 3 of our bags fell behind the carousel, so I had mt first chance to reaccess my Russian skills from many years ago to ask a nice young man for some helpski.

We met our translator and driver outside customs and piled into a van with another single mom adopting from Semey and her friend.

I cried when we landed in Almaty. I have waited so long for this day, the day I can finally say... "Today is the day I will meet my daughter."

I will blog more tomorrow. Right now it's 2:30 and we have to get up at 8. I am pretty sure I won't sleep.a wink amidst the damn wave crashing sounds of my mother's international sound machine HAHAHA

Details tomorrow. Spankonya nochay!

I am so glad you landed safely and had a little bit of rest. It is now 7:45am and my guess is you are up, showered and getting yourself ready for the best day of your life.

I wish you a safe flight to Semey and I am sending you hugs and love as you meet your daughter.

yeah!!! btw, don't diss the sound machine, I got very used to it!

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
