Yes, my friends, today I got word that I should apply for new visas for Dad and me, so I now have my browser open to FedEx's website and can tell you that the envelope left the Gilford, NH facility for NYC at 6:23 tonight. YAY! I was told that I should apply for a visa for as early as NEXT WEEKEND, yeah you heard me, although I still think I will going the week after. Can you believe it? It's almost time to go pick up my hedge hog mini.
Dad put together her changing table the other day and now I have ordered her rug, so the room is almost complete, with the exception of a glider, which I just cannot decide on (or afford) at the moment. I have made a gazillion kinds of baby food to freeze, all as single ingredients, so I can introduce new foods on a three day rotation diet to make sure Anelya is not allergic. I bought an amazing rice cooker/steamer at Target which is just amazing, so I am steaming everything and then pureeing in my food processor, until I can swing the Beaba Babycook.
I installed her car seat this weekend. That's a trip, I tell ya. Between us, I have never felt so stupid in my life as when I installed that car seat. Rocket science. So strange to see it back there, along with her window shade with stuffed jungle animals on it and her jungle mirror. So, the mad preparation has begun. I have packed Anelya's clothes (oh you can only imagine, people) and will do mine this weekend.
So, stay tuned! Hopefully I will have a travel date very soon!

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.

I stopped by the local fire department to help me make sure the car seat was installed correctly and was going to be safe for my son. They are usually very helpful!
Have fun getting ready but make sure you spend some time on yourself doing as many things as you love to do as possible before you leave!
I agree with Pam on both counts. Isn't all the prep fun, especially when you know who it is for? Almost time to go get your little girl. Woo-hoo!
this is so so so so exciting! I cannot WAIT!!!!!!!!!!! You and your mom (and dad) must be close to doing cartwheels!!!!!!!!
