Sorry for the very brief dropping of the happy bomb and then... silence for a couple of hours. I've been getting a beating for that! :-) I obviously have been yapping everyone's ears off since I got off the phone with AJ when she told me the ROCKIN, ahem, I mean, lovely news. Nah, it's rockin' news!
*wiggle*
So, the day went something like this... in my head. Same old, same old. Work, lunch, work and then crazy "pregnant" mama Andrea took over and within seconds I had sent an e-mail to Andrea. I mean, it's Friday, why not? Who knows what has happened in the past couple of weeks, right? So, I decide I am going to spare AJ from my usual lunacy. You know, the kind where you have a million questions, all of which you ask, and then you proceed to apologize and explain why you are so crazy and asking all of these questions. And hey, it seems to have worked! I think the Kaz Gods liked the new and improved "Mama goes all business " scenario because my one sentence question brought some RESULTS!
But first, a bit of a heart-stopping moment. You know, after an up and down period like this, the "give me a call when you have a chance" response could either be fantastic or horrible news. So, I did experience a stomach flip and an "Uh Oh" moment, but Steve (still my most favorite semi-perfectisimo boss) talked me down and said, "maybe it's good news and she wants to hear your happy response." Or something like that. Ok, nerve restored.
So, I call AJ and get the phone system. When I push her extension, the phone will only take 2 of the 3 digits. Grrrrr. Try again. No go. Uh oh. Try to get through the operator. Voicemail. Yikes. try once more. Nope. This has to be a disaster, right??? Not so. So I emailed AJ and asked her to call me at work.
Now, let's take a moment for the BEAUTY of the caller id phrase PRIVATE CALLER. I mean really, KUMBAY-YA, hallelujah, holy moly do I love it when I see the PRIVATE CALLER... except now actually, I'll really love it again after November 4. In NH we get endless push pollers. So, back to the call. The phone rang, I saw who it was, and basically told the patient in front of me to get lost, that it was my adoption agency. Get lost? Sure. She sat right down 2 feet from me. I should have offered her some popcorn. The whole time I was talking to AJ she was silent clapping, making huge YAY faces, going "WHAT? WHAT?" It was funny.
The word is now that I should expect to travel in about 9-12 months. It could be less time, but we'd all rather create the expectation that the wait will be longer because of the slowing down of things in the process. If this is true, Mom and I will be traveling to Kaz somewhere between July and September. GREAT! Kazakhstan is 110 degrees in the summer. Usually no a/c units in the apartments. Suzy Hot Flash is going to be... hot.
Thank you for bearing with my punchiness. I'm obviously very excited to actually be waiting. No more waiting to wait!

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.

Hi Andrea, I have not commented on your blog before, but I have been reading it and I enjoy it and your enthusiasm! I had to respond when you said you hope to travel to Kaz in July-September. I am leaving Kaz today after 11 weeks and 3 days and we arrived august 1st. The weather was UNBELIEVABLE! It was really never "hot", the breeze was always nice. Granted, I am a Florida girl and used to heat, but I never sweat in Kostanai. It was the perfect time of year to be here, in my opinion. It started getting cooler and "fall like" and leaves changed and the heat turned on...but it was perfect outside.
I really think that is the best time of year to come. :)
The apts get dirty cuz you keep the windows open, but there was ALWAYS a killer breeze.
:)
Best of luck to you-I will be following along. I will be making my blog public when I get home with our daughter, Ms. Leeza Grace Serra. :)
CONGRATS on the movement. We waited a long time to get to Kostanai but it was SO worth the wait...everything was really storybook perfect and we ended up with the perfect daughter for our family. God does have a plan-you just gotta have faith and wait while he works it out for ya. :)
Congratulations on moving forward. Hopefully the wait will fly by and you'll be in Kaz before you know it.
