We Are Home!

This will be very short and sweet, but I wanted to let you all know that Anelya and I are now home and in bed. I have the best baby ever. She was excellent on both flights and slept the whole way home (2 hours) from the airport in her car seat. We'll see how much sleep we get tonight, but Mom is here in case all hell breaks loose and she won't sleep.

The people on the flights (KLM) and at Immigration could not have been nicer or more accommodating. All in all, I would say we had a dream homecoming with about 15 people at the airport. I have to thank my Dad right now for being so unbelievably helpful and supportive in Kazakhstan and also to Pierre, who dog sat for free for more than a week even though he lives 2.5 hours away and who also cleaned my dirty house and made enough food for me to fill my fridge. Now THAT is a friend and a wonderful god father. I also want to thank Amy and Les, who dog sat last weekend, when Pierre had to get back to Boston for Halloween AND Jenny Murray, my professional photographer friend (you should use her too!) who came to record this once in a lifetime event! Thesepictures, however, are snagged from Pierre's Facebook page. Now that I have thanked the Academy, I HAVE TO GO TO BED!

I have many things from our Almaty experience to write about , as well as more pics and videos, but for now, I lay here dizzy from being awake for 28 hours straight and besides that, having slept max 20 hours since last Wednesday. So, for now, we sleep.

Welcome home. So glad all went so smoothly in transit. Now reality begins, and sweet reality it becomes. Enjoy.

it's so wonderful to see you and Anelya together. Will call you later this week!

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
