I woke up at 4:30 again for no reason. I think I need to turn off the monitor all together and just listen for her. With the monitor, I wake up every time she makes a sound. When she flips over at night she lets out this cry/scream that she doesn't even know she is making. So, I think the monitor will be turned on now once I think she is really crying and I need to see if it is a "go in and fix it" type deal or a "she'll work it out" type deal. I am going to go lie down now. She went down for her morning nap at 9:30. She is in a solid routine now, which is great. I have figured out that I can giver her a bottle at 6 and put her back in her crib for about an hour while I get ready. She sort of half sleeps and half plays. We'll see how long that lasts, but as long as she keeps that up this first week back to work, I'll be pleased.

Breakfast at the Diner
We've already had a great day today. For the past 20 years, my dad and I have gone to breakfast every Saturday or Sunday morning when I have been in town. Since I moved to the same town that they live in almost four years ago, this has become a weekly tradition. I was so excited for Anelya to join us for the first time. The best part was, the owner of the diner was almost more excited than we were! Anelya is a local celebrity and people are just so happy she is finally home. The Wolfeboro Diner was ready for her and as soon as we walked in they had her high chair all set and in came the owner with a big stuff moose adorned in red, white and blue ribbon! It was so sweet. Loree, the owner, even took pictures of Anelya's first visit to the diner to start a new "Baby Wall". It's just so amazing to see how this little monkey has touched so many people.
Anelya loved it. I had brought her Yobaby yogurt. She likes plain mixed with Mommy's homemade fruit purees. I had also brought her a bottle of plum compote, a Russian drink she drank once a day at the baby house. It's basically stewed fruit which turn into a flavored water. It's much lower in sugar than juice and it's easy to make, so I have been doing that. I ordered her some oatmeal. It's exciting that she is eating big people oatmeal now. This kind was alittle over the top thick for her, so I mixed it into her yogurt, which worked out great. She was very happy feeding herself the small pieces of Havarti I brought her, as well as her first piece of toast! Anelya charmed the entire place, as usual. Every time someone came in she would smile and wave. Waving is a new thing she learned a couple of days ago. This kid is so cute. People literally come from across the restaurant to tell me how cute she is. I love it, of course.

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.

Catching up on your posts. Sounds like Anelya is doing great! You are too, despite the illnesses and lack of sleep. It's hard to keep going in that state.I'm for turning off the monitor. If you can still hear her, you WILL wake up if she needs you. Brady made a lot of noise at night too for months -- turning over, trying to find the binky, whatever -- that did not require my getting up too.
She is adorable. I can see why the whole town is enamored!
Keep up the good work, Mama!
What a great tradition! And who could resist those chubby cheeks and beautiful eyes. Glad that she's a good eater and a good sleeper. Makes a Mommy warm and fuzzy inside! You might want to try turning the volume down on the monitor. You'll get used to her sounds. Miras slept in the same room with us for the first 3 mos and after the first couple of weeks we all slept soundly.
