In 56 hours we will be leaving for the airport! YAY!
Please tell me why I am already on Kazkah time. It's like I have jetlag already. I have been waking up at 5 for the past couple of days. Admist the preparation for the trip, I have also been eyeball deep in moving my office to our new building. I mean really, when it rains it pours! It's probably a good thing because I have been SO BUSY. Poor Steve will have to open the office without me and deal with the first couple weeks of the wrinkles of a new building on his own.
I'm not sure who thought it would be smart to make an 8a.m. dentist appointment today, but apparently I knew I would be on this absurd schedule, so I am happy I did. Afterwards, I will take Gunnar and Brody to get their nails clipped and blood work done at the vet. So much easier to do now then with the baby later. Gunnar has had some problems with allergies and Brody is hypothyroid, so they're on meds up the wazoo. I can't quite figure out what Gunnar is allergic to, so I have to buckle down and do the $750 allergy test in a couple of months so he can hopefully go off his doggy prednisone. Poor Gunnar.
Pierre is coming on Tuesday night to get acquainted with their (rather high maintenance) routine. Both dogs get different meds at each meal and they eat different dog cookies. Gunnar's are hypoallergenic and Brody's are light because he is a Chubby McChubster from his hypothyroid. They eat have their own crates, for sleeping only, in which they each get a different stuffed animal to sleep with, but only for sleeping, as the second they are out of the crates with them they rip them to shreds. They won't go out in their yard if it's raining, so you have to walk them. Brody's belly has to be scratched pretty much constantly (I am working on that). Gunnar eats tennis balls. And finally, every time you come home you have to rearranged the furniture because they disagree with my decorating style and move the slipper chair halfway across the room when I leave for more than an hour or so. Yes, Pierre has his work cut out for him.
He will be here from Tuesday-Friday and then again from Sunday until our return. My (newly engaged) friends Amy and Les will be here from Friday-Sunday to enjoy the NH fall, but also so Pierre can go do Boston for Halloween. Lots going on for my two furry friends.
Anyway, I should get ready for the dentist. I packed again last night and will probably do it all over again today. Gets me excited. I just want to go back to the end of the rainbow to retrieve my little pot of gold.

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.

LOL! Why do we love our high maintenance pets so much?! Yours sound like a pair of characters. Your lil pot of gold is gonna love them!
BTW, I also was very worried about what bringing home a child would do to my pets and how it would change their lives, whether they would become second-rate family members, etc. For me, it has worked out just fine. I make a point of giving the cat special attention every day (right before I go to bed, so it is just the two of us) and she hangs with Brady and I all the time. Don't worry, you have enough love (so will your daughter) for all of your family members!
