FedEx Stalking Intervention Needed

I have been many things in my life.  Many things. But never have I been something as peculiar as the freak who is actually watching the FedEx lady get into the truck with my dossier (on it's way to be apostilled) and while watching, feverishly logging in to track the package. It's still in the parking lot. Now would be an acceptable time for an intervention.

At this point, it is fair to write that there are two teams of people reading this blog entry; 1) those other adoptive parents who are chuckling and can fully relate to the FedEx stalking tendencies  2) The rest of you who always knew I was a little different, but not THIS different.  It's ok. I'm happy to take the flack.

I love NH. Being an adoptive parent sin NH rocks. First, my USCIS process was a breeze, as we all know. As if that weren't enough, I just spoke with the Secretary of State in Concord who said that she will probably have my paperwork back to me, apostilled and fit for fight, by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest.  This morning is occurred to me that I have to get my birth certificate apostilled. I was thinking I didn't because it was a certified vital doc, but nope, I have to get it done. So, I had a brief 3 minute meltdown and then took a deep breath and looked up the Secretary of State's website in Massachusetts (where I am born). If you send your documents to them, they take 2-3 weeks to get them back to you. SOOOO not NH and completely not ok, so I am driving down to Boston on Monday to have at it and then have some cocktails with my friend Pierre. So, if I really do get my apostilled documents back by Tuesday (I have OF COURSE sent my own return envelope so I can stalk it's return to me too), then I expect to have my dossier in Texas at LMI's office by next Friday. My goal was August 1, so I think that's a pretty good outcome.

OK enough of this banter. I have a package to track.
:-D

Tamar was 3 1/2 when I began Libby's adoption. She could read the words Fed/Ex within a week of the process starting and could spot a Fed/Ex truck anywhere in the vacinity. She still gets excited when she sees them. It's a good thing she traveled to Kaz with me or she would have thought the FedEx man brought the baby to us-LOL!

I never thought of that! Good thing though I was already crazy enough. I am glad I found this out after the fact. However, I would not let my dossier be touched by anyone else and drove it for apostille myself, waited nervously as the lady disappeared behind a door with it, feared she would somehow lose it or forget about it and worried the whole time. Not much different, you are officially normal.....well...Shauna

Andrea, I had to get one of my documents apostilled in Massachusetts - my employment letter because my company's headquarters is located just outside of Boston. Luckily I had a business trip that took me there at the right time. My advice is try to find out where to park ahead of time. I had directions to the Secretary of State's office which was a little confusing (there are a bunch of one way streets and if you miss a turn it sucks!) but I had no idea where to park. There didn't seem to be much parking in the area and I ended up parking quite a bit away and walking (which wouldn't have been too bad but it was January and it was really cold). I think it took me 25 minutes to walk from the parking garage to the building and less than 5 minutes to get it apostilled. Hopefully it will be just as easy for you.

I'm laughing, because I've btdt too! What I am stalking now is my Mastercard bill for all those FedEx charges! Ouch! Should definitely be its own line item on the list of fees.

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
