Today I went to have my fingerprints taken to send to the FBI for a security clearance. I couldn't have asked for it to go much more smoothly. There were, of course, the usual dauting questions like, "Why do they take the fingerprints in one office only to have to close their office and go to another office on another floor to retrieve them?" But, it went smoothly and since the DMV was next door, I decided to use some of my free time and get a new license with a better picture, or at least one that doesn't look like a mugshot.
I have to say, I'm feeling really tired right now. It feels as if I am moving along nicely through the paperwork, but I am tired. My brain is tired. I do feel better now that all of the necessary paperwork has been distributed to the various people (CPA, doctor, etc.) who need to sign something in order to complete my paperwork, but it's anyone's guess when I will be getting these documents back.
I know that people say the hard part comes once the paperwork has been sent to the Consulate and the wait starts, but I am feeling like it will be a relief when this is approved, apostilled and out of my hands.
I'm not sure why I am feeling down today. Maybe it's the letdown from the holiday (a ROCKIN' 4th of July this year, may I add) or maybe I just really am tired. Once I send these fingerprints off, I am just going to wait for everything to come back to me and then go to notarize my paperwork once I have it all so the notarizations don't expire. So, tomorrow, once FedEx has picked this up, I will consciously take a moment to exhale.

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
