Big Weekend Ahead

Yesterday I finally received my homestudy, notarized, spell checked and fine tooth-combed. I am now waiting for my agency to receive their copy so I can get this show on the road with the dossier. More waiting... but that ok because...

I am SO BUSY getting ready for my fundraising yard sale extravaganza tomorrow! People from all over town have donated TONS of very nice stuff and, of course, I have my own mountain junk to sell too. So, I'm putting it out there (a la The Secret) that I want to make $1500 tomorrow toward the adoption. Here's hoping. I'll let you know how it goes. This is such a huge yard sale (not at home but on Main Street in a perfect location with a parking lot and everything) that I had to enlist some help! Of course, Mom & Dad will be there (poor dad - if he has to move one more thing for me...), my friend and dog sitter extraordinaire Sara, and my friend Donnamarie who works in the office across the hall from me. So, there will be five of us manning the show.

You all know I like things to run smoothly :-) Wasn't that a nice way to put it? So, everyone will be assigned a job. I will be the executive producer or even better, The Queen of Everything. Dad is in charge of lugging stuff around and the like. Once that is done, I know he'll put on his best game show host smile and start selling! Mom is the merchandising director, in charge of keeping things neat. LOL. That's so perfect. Donnamarie will be helping me sell and doing whatever else she wants to do. Sara is in charge of the bake sale table and donations piggy bank. She's also welcome to work the floor if she wishes. So you see, this is quite a production. I will be happy with whatever I come home with. I think yard sales are so cheesy, but honestly, this one is kind of fun.

Next is the dossier. I'm all ready for it, but I have a few document which will take some time to get. First, the 171-H from USCIS. They will start processing it as soon as I am allowed to send them my homestudy. Here's to having faith that the U.S. govt will rock the stopwatch for me. They've done it before, they'll do it again. Then I have to get a notarized document from my doctor. We'll see how long that takes. I'm hoping to bribe her for speediness with some truffles. Then a letter from my CPA who was just hired yesterday. She's been very accommodating and is totally supportive of my crazy push for time so, that good! If I can get those three things to work on a decent schedule, I'll be all set.

So here we go everybody. As usual, please cross your fingers, hold your thumbs, click your heels and give snaps to a speedy dossier production time & wildly successful yard sale. GO TEAM!

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
