Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Today we went to lunch with Baba and Hoovie at the local Mexican place and then to Santa's Hut to meet Santa. We had a nice time and Anelya was very active. Usually she just sits and eats, but since we decided to go to lunch after I had already fed her, she was a squirmy wormy. It was fun though!

Anelya did manage to sit for a little while...
Afterward, we decided to walk up the street to Santa's Hut to meet Santa.
Anelya loves to be carried by her Hoovie!

Mommy anxiously awaiting her turn!

Anelya does not heart Santa.

But she kind of hearts Elmo!

We continue to be very happy together and Anelya is thriving. She is crawling faster than i ever thought possible and thinks it's great fun to follow me wherever I go. She has become a Mama's girl and always has to know exactly where I am. She'll let others hold her for a minute or two, but then she wants Mommy again. this all very good for the attachment that needs to happen.
I am no longer sick and Anelya is feeling fine. Her two middle teeth on the bottom have broken through, so the nights are quiet again... until the next one decides to break through! She's taking good naps now and so am I!
Anelya will eat mashed potatoes again, but only if I use my Swedish press to squeeze them through. She does not do fork mashed potatoes like they had at the baby house. NYET! Brody is stealing less binkies and knows not to snag the toys she throws over the side of the play pen, so that is helping my binky/toy budget tremendously.
Next on the agenda is a visit next weekend from Uncle Pierre, who will help us decorate the Christmas tree! Hard to believe it's already time for Christmas and before we know it, it will have passed.
Anelya will have been home a month tomorrow and yesterday I sent our first post placement report to LMI, which will be translated and sent to the Kazakh government. They mostly want to know about her attachment, adaptation and development. Thankfully, Anelya is thriving in all areas.

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
