An Amazing Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was really a wonderful time this year. I took the entire week off, which means 10 full days off for me. This past weekend I went back to Rhode Island, where I grew up, to reconnect with friends. I have not had such a great time in a long time. I got to see so many people that it just really made me miss everyone. Spending time with the girlfriends I have known since I was 12 years old was just so much fun. Seeing the group of guys we used to do everything with was also a hoot. I just loved seeing them in their adult lives, meeting their wives and hearing about their children and careers. Even though I have been out of touch with many of them for about 15 years, they are very special to me.

On Thanksgiving Day I was given something to be VERY thankful for! I was trying to get some things organized and logged into my adoption account, where I found that my old friend from college and his wife had deposited a $2,000 gift for the adoption. It came as a complete surprise and I was brought to tears. This follows another check which I received out of the blue from an old friend of our family the week before. She, too, is following her own life dream (which isn't adoption) and wanted to support me in following mine. You've heard me say it a gazillion times throughout the process and you will hear it again, I am SO BLESSED with so many amazing friends.

I wonder if Christmas will be hard without my little one here. So far I have done well with the mindset that things are happening as they are meant to, but there is something about having children there on Christmas morning that makes the holidays magical. But next year, I will be celebrating my first Christmas with my baby and my family. It's such a mesmerizing thought.

Friends and family are beyond amazing. I think our journey to motherhood really brings out some amazing qualities in the special people in our lives.

I know next year our Holidays will be filled with a lot of fun and no sitting down :) Heres to chasing little ones.

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
