On Time

My coordinator got back to me, as always, and let me know that while she hasn't heard anything, no news is good news and I should expect that my paperwork will move from the Consulate to the Ministries on time. According to my countdown application on the blog, this is in 22 days or less.

On another note, I am taking a lot of time off in the next 6 weeks. It occurred to me a while ago that I can't take any vacation at all next year, as I will need to save everything for my trip and for getting Lily acclimated once she gets home. So, I am taking all of next week off, as well as the weeks of Christmas and New Years! Thanksgiving I will use mostly to chill out, although I will be making a trip to see my high schools friends in RI the weekend after Thanksgiving. I don't get to see them nearly as often as I would like and that will certainly only be more so once the baby gets here.  During Christmas, I plan to really make some headway in getting the house ready and hopefully have New Year's either at my house or somewhere wonderfully cozy with some friends. We shall see.

It's funny, as my journey to Lily gets nearer, I find myself making more and more decisions as if I am already a mom. It's been increasingly so the last month I would say, and I am kind of struck by how much one psyche changes, even when not biologically pregnant, but pregnant on paper. I'd be interested to hear form my other adoptive parent friends if they too experienced such changes. It's fascinating to say the least. I'm glad I can be my own science project.

And finally, it's so cold here that I feel like I could happily hide under my comforter pretty much indefinitely, which makes me happy to probably be traveling to Kazakhstan in warmer months. I really just don't like to be cold. In Sweden we have a saying "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing" I love Sweden, but come on, you know you don't all go to the Canary Islands  and Thailand because the weather is so lovely in Sweden in January...

Hey there,
ontime is good, that means the process is working :) I know what you mean about making decisions with a different perspective. Hang in there, in no time your dossier will be in country, spring will be here and you'll be that much closer to Lily (orwilly) :)

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
