Dead Beat Blogger

Oh my goodness! What can I say? I have been terrible about keeping my blog up to date. Life is crazy right now and, while I don't have much news about the adoption, a couple of things have happened.

I am still in the excruciating waiting stage, just waiting for my LOI or some glimpse of a hint as to when I will travel. As you know, the estimated departure dates have been pushed back several times, but we all knew that would be the case, as it is just the nature of the game. My mother threw me another wonderful baby shower a couple of weeks ago. I will be posting pictures shortly, hopefully this weekend. It was so much fun to see so many people celebrating Lily and her upcoming arrival.

The truth is, I haven't been blogging because I feel kind of tired of blogging about the wait. I am frustrated now and I just want to be updating you from Kazakhstan. But, the truth of the matter is that I am not traveling yet because Lily is not ready for me to come yet and I will wait as long as I need to get her, as painful as the wait has become. At this point, I am guessing that I will travel toward the end of the summer or in early fall. SIGH. My hope is to have her home for Thanksgiving, a totally different concept than hoping to bring her home to this summer Utopia here on Lake Winnipesaukee.

I have also received a few out of the blue hefty donations from people close to me and one person whom I barely know. The support for this adoption continues to astonish me and I am so very grateful for all of the help, support and kindness you have all shown me in every possible way.

There are now five families in Semipalatinsk, the city where I will be traveling to once Lily is ready for me. One of the women there is my wonderful friend, Sandi, who has gone through a unusually difficult process with another agency last year, but has been with my agency for a while now. She is in Semey now and bonding with her daughter and I couldn't be filled with any more joy than I feel right now. So, instead of dwelling on my wait, I am focused on sending all my my good vibes to her for a smooth process. The network of Semey families is a very close one and I care deeply about how the process goes for everyone over there. I send all of you all of my love, especially my girl, Sandi!

I will try to post more soon. Promise.

Hang in there! Your time is coming. Sandi is a great role model for everyone and hasn't she been blessed with a beautiful daughter? I can imagine that makes your heart sing with joy - and antsy to GO. But as Sandi learned, all good things do come to those who wait - hard as it is!

one more thought - for those of us who have been worried about you when you haven't posted, it is SO understandable why you aren't posting with no news. So maybe just a one-liner occasionally - even "nothing to report but all is well!"

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
