Lily is in Semey-Palatinsk

So yeah, keeping the region to myself lasted all of a couple of days... I can't hold it in anymore. Lily is in Semey-Palatinsk, Kazakhstan, in the northeastern part of Kazakhstan. It's not far from the Russian border. I am SO EXCITED to have been assigned this region. I really really wanted to be assigned here, as I have witnessed several very smooth adoption processes of beautiful children to wonderful loving families. Many of the friends I have made along this adoption road have been adoptive parents of Semey kids or are in the process.

I feel blessed in every way. My paperwork has flown through the ministries and now we wait for the LOI (Letter of Invitation). I suspect it will be a couple of months before I hear anything about my travel dates, but honestly? The way things are going, it could be any time now.

This morning I made an appointment for my mom and me to go to a travel clinic to get our hepatitis and typhoid shots. Mom ordered the baby's crib and we are now in full-speed nesting mode. It looks like there will be THREE, count 'em THREE, baby showers.

So, left for me to do is: start to gather things I will pack (non-clothes items as I don't know what the weather will be like until I have the LOI), raising the chunk of money, and getting my travel documents in order. There's A LOT to do!

I want to thank all of you for your prayers and your well wishes. I have been truly blessed throughout this entire process. I really feel that meeting Lily is within my reach now and I cannot wait to meet my baby girl.

Congratulations Andrea! It's so wonderful to hear that you were assigned the region you really wanted to go to. And it's the closest region to Ust Kam, where my son was born!

Best, Pam and Nicholas

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.
