Yesterday my mother's friend (and my friend too), Katerina, held a baby shower for me. Many of my mother's friends attended, as well as a good friend of mine and my most awesome God Mother, Wendy. It was great fun and really made me feel like this is actually going to happen soon! There was a wonderful lunch and cake, balloons and games. Many people hit my registry at Babies "R" Us and so generously "set me up" and others who just plain know their stuff and got some practical, fun, and beautiful gifts for my Lily. I felt so lucky to have so many wonderful people around me celebrating Lily's upcoming arrival.
I will be posting pictures this week. my mother has them, it's a matter of getting them uploaded and then to me...
I am expecting to have to wait until May at the very least to travel. This is not unexpected and, while it's hard, I am still keeping a positive attitude, rolling with the punches and letting Lily continue to prepare to come to the U.S. As you know, I believe that things are unfolding as they should and that the reason I do not yet know when I will travel is because Lily is not ready for me yet. When she is ready, my LOI will come.
I want to thank everybody who attended the baby shower yesterday. Most of you make up a good part of Team Lily. Your support and love throughout the past year has been invaluable. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
A few of you are new readers to my blog. Since my region was assigned, many of my friends asked for access to the blog. I just want to encourage you to read past posts on a rainy day sometime so you can see the ups and downs of the emotional and logistical process of my journey to Lily. October 4, 2008's post is a radio interview I did last fall. You will also find many posts just explaining the process and how it feels to be going through it all. I love to read your comments, so don't be shy! I want to share all of this with my friends and family, as it is the most important time of my life so far and you are special to me. Ok clearly the "paper pregnancy" hormones are talking. I'm off to bed! Spakonya nochay!

This is the story of how a single 30-something year old woman and a 6.5 month old angel from Kazakhstan found each other and became a family. A journey which started as a dream, became reality in August 2009 when two hearts found one home... together.

Congrats on your first baby shower. Isn't that the best? I really felt so much love at my shower. Can't wait to see your pictures.
